Veli is Going for the MiCA License! A new era in compliance is beginning

At Veli, we’ve always operated with the highest standards in security, transparency, and regulatory compliance. Today, we’re proud to share that we are officially starting the process of obtaining the CASP (Crypto Asset Service Provider) license under MiCA, the Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation!

CASP License - A new era in compliance

The CASP license is a regulatory framework introduced under the MiCA regulation—the European Union’s comprehensive approach to governing digital assets and service providers. MiCA aims to protect consumers, ensure market integrity, and create a harmonized approach across all EU member states.

MiCA brings regulatory clarity by establishing a single licensing framework across the EU. Instead of navigating different national rules or reapplying in each country, crypto companies that obtain a MiCA license can simply notify their home regulator of the other EU countries they intend to operate in. The home regulator then informs the relevant authorities in those countries, enabling streamlined cross-border service within the EU. The bottom line: the same regulatory rules apply in every EU country.

Veli is at the beginning of the licensing process, and we are currently exploring applying for three key services:

  1. Portfolio management of digital assets

  2. Financial advice on crypto-assets

Receiving and transmitting orders on behalf of third parties

What It Means for Veli

Obtaining the CASP (MICA) license will mean Veli is compliant with the latest and strictest standards of: Cybersecurity, AML (Anti-Money Laundering), Transparency and investor protection.

Obtaining the MiCA license is more than a regulatory milestone, it’s a commitment to building a trusted, secure future for crypto investing in Europe. At Veli, we believe that compliance and innovation go hand in hand, and this step reinforces our dedication to both.

When it comes to cybersecurity, in addition to our MiCA CASP license, we’re also ensuring full compliance with the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA). DORA is an EU regulation designed to make sure financial entities, including crypto service providers like us, can withstand, respond to, and recover from different types of disruptions and threats.

What does this mean in practice?

Being DORA-compliant means we’re putting strong internal systems and controls in place to manage cyber risks, data breaches, IT outages, and other tech-related incidents. This includes:

  • Regular risk assessments and penetration testing
  • Incident detection and reporting protocols
  • Backup and disaster recovery systems
  • Due diligence on third-party tech providers
  • Transparent and timely communication with regulators

Also, this affirms Veli’s position as a
regulated, trustworthy partner in the digital asset space – especially for financial advisors, brokers, and all financial institutions that demand a fully compliant infrastructure.

What It Means for Users

With MiCA, the crypto businesses now operate under stricter regulations, including clear rules on separating customer funds from company assets. Why does this matter? We all know the example of the FTX exchange and its crash, right? When FTX collapsed, Japanese FTX users were protected because their regulator had already enforced such safeguards – ensuring client funds remained untouched.

For Veli users and the clients, this translates into: Unmatched platform security, Regulatory assurance, Clear operating standards across the EU, Peace of mind knowing your portfolios are secured and managed under the highest legal and technical safeguards.

Next Steps for Veli

In the coming months, we’ll be sharing more about the licensing process and what it means for all our users and partners. We’re excited with preparing a series of educational materials and resources to help our users and partners stay informed and ahead of the curve. Webinars, insights, and practical guides will be published to ensure that the community is well-versed in the changes MiCA brings. For financial advisors, we’ll provide tailored content to help them understand how the new regulation enables compliant crypto asset management for their clients and what they need to do to become and operate as digital assets advisors.

Final Thoughts

At Veli, we strive to be more than just a platform—we aim to be a hub of knowledge, compliance, and transparency. This next step brings us closer to setting a new standard in regulated crypto investing across Europe.

Let’s build the future of finance—securely, together!
